About Us

Our Mission:

To provide confidence, independence and wellbeing for people with disabilities through therapeutic horse riding and horse care.

The Riding for the Disabled Association Inc was established in New Zealand in 1972, and Dunedin Group RDA was established in 1973. The location of Dunedin RDA has changed over the years but we now have our own land in Fairfield, Dunedin.

Dunedin RDA is a voluntary organization which is run and managed by volunteers. We receive no government funding and rely on Grants, corporate sponsorship and generous donations from the community to keep the RDA operating.

We run three days a week (Monday, Thursday and Saturday), providing therapeutic horse riding for approx 45 riders, with a wide range of disabilities (see Benefits of RDA). New riders start with two side walkers and a leader, and some will progress to riding independently and even pony club and competition.
